Our 4 Year Old Class
The 4 year old program at Viewmont Baptist Tree of Learning is fun, exciting, engaging, and highly academic. Our program will prepare your child for kindergarten. We prioritize and value the pre-k experience and strive to guide children in the learning process while having a lot of fun along the way.
Four Year Old Daily Schedule
8:45 - 9:00 - Morning work/free play
9:00 - 9:20 - Circle Time (calendar, story, music/movement)
9:20 - 10:05 - Centers (art, dramatic play, blocks)
10:05 - 10:10 - Bathroom/Wash Hands
10:10 - 10:25 - Snack
10:30 - 11:25 - Rotation (Letterland, Math, Science)
11:25 - 11:30 - Bathroom/Wash Hands
11:30 - 12:00 - Outside/Gym
12:00 - Dismissal for 1/2 day
12:00 - 12:05 - Bathroom/Wash Hands
12:05 - 12:35 - Lunch Bunch
12:35 - 12:45 - Clean up/Pack up/Dismissal
*Extended hours until 3:00pm
Our day consists of fun free play, circle time, learning centers, outdoor play,
reading time, art, and music & movement
*There are times during the day, typically upon arrival, that students are engaged in free play. This is a great way to ease into our day and to socialize with their friends.
*We have a "letter of the week." We will learn the letter by lower and upper case recognition, the sound it makes, and by utilizing the Letterland curriculum which includes handwriting.
*Children participate in circle time by playing games, engaging in teacher lead activities, and enjoying books that are theme based. During circle time we also learn about the calendar, including days of the week, months, holidays, and counting. Each month we cover several different themes to enhance learning and the children's experiences about their world. We even take several field trips though the year.
*We use the Wee Learn Bible curriculum and help children understand the love of Jesus through how we treat others and love one another.
*We have learning centers each day. We have a reading/book center, blocks, manipulatives/puzzles, art, math, writing, and science. Children participate in many different learning activities during center time.
The children love our show and tell time, sharing their weekly letter homework, and reading their reader books at home and at school. We encourage our 4 year olds to be ready for kindergarten academically and socially. Daily we encourage independent skills such as washing hands, taking care of materials, cutting, handwriting, cleaning up, etc. Assessments are completed throughout the year. Parents are kept very up to date on what we are working on, as well as what to work on at home, to further prepare them for kindergarten. We love seeing their smiling faces and excitement as the children learn and grow with us!
